Ed Westfall

Edwin Vernon Westfall, known as Ed Westfall and nicknamed Shadow, (born September 19, 1940, in Belleville, Ontario, Canada) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who played 18 seasons in the National Hockey League with the Boston Bruins and the New York Islanders from 1961 to 1979. Notable as a defensive specialist, often tasked with defensive assignments against opposing teams' top scorers, Westfall played most of his career as a right winger, although he played a bit as a defenseman early in his career and as a center towards the end. He is famous for being on the ice and covering the right defense for Bobby Orr when he scored his legendary flying goal in the 1970 Stanley Cup Final.
